Pictures taken with Tamron SP Macro Lens 1:1, 90mm F/2.8 Lens.
We were in a
budget when we purchased this lens little over 5 years ago. We had no
hesitations when aquiring it because we had it previously in Pentax
mount; we knew we weren't going wrong with it. This lens is a great
performer and has a superb sharpness from corner to corner. AF is a
bit slow, but we understand that this lens when used as a macro,
should be used in Manual focus. 90mm on a DSLR (approx 135mm)
yields plenty of room between you and your subject; good when
shooting insects that can be easily startled or can sting you. This
lens has been updated with new coatings for better performance on
DSLRs, it has been designated now as ''Di''.
Why not
Nikon? As we said, we were in a budget by then; however, we have been
contemplating the new sought after Nikon 105 VR. Compared now
next to the Nikon 105, it is almost as big. However, build quality
wise, Nikon is top notch.
