Nikon Creative Lighting System

The beauty of Nikon's CLS system is its creative power and the ease of use. This is Kiara, she's my niece, I took her along with my Nikon flash system for a few minutes of shooting. Of course, it was possible thanks to the help of my children Joseph and Jacob. I used for this a Nikon SB-600, SB-800 speedlight and an SU-800 speedlight commander (see pictures below). This system indeed works but you may encounter some limitations if not careful when positioning the flash units. I had no communication troubles with the CLS system even at 3 o'clock afternoon light on our shoulders. I used my SB-800 attached to a 32'' silver lined umbrella and an affordable Impact umbrella stand (from B&H Photo) on my Nikon D200. I also used for some fill light a Nikon SB-600 in group 'B' on my SU-800. All pictures I took were in NEF, post processed with Nikon Capture NX and minor adjustments using Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Lenses used: Nikon 17-55 AF-S F/2.8, Nikon 85mm F/1.8, Nikon micro 60mm F/2.8 and Nikon 105 F/2 DC.
