PMA 2008
is around the corner and seems that someone managed to capture a few
mug shots of an up-coming Nikkor 16-85 AFS F/3.5-5.6 ED lens. I don't
think this is a photoshop job, it would be hard and time consuming to
make this just for a joke. I'm setting this page to have sample
pictures with this lens as soon as they become available the same way
I did with the Nikon
D300. I truly believe this is a real deal and I'm looking
forward to it. I really love the idea of that focal length (as I do
with the Nikon 18-70) VR included with a metal mount. Yes there is
another picture of circulating that clearly shows the metal mount.
This will make a great all around lens
with VR
(Vibration Reduction), more robust than the 18-135 AFS and possibly
less compromises than those found in the Nikon 18-200 AFS VR. This is
definetly a keeper for those days I don't want or need to carry my Nikon
17-55 AFS F/2.8. Those 16mm on the wide end sound very tempting
as well and with a Nikkor 70-300 AFS VR combined, will be a great
outdoors light weight and casual combo. I believe that this is one of
a few PMA announcements where we will hopefully see some prime lenses revisited.
